Category : Other Chemicals
CAS NO : 29915-38-6 EC NO : 249-954-1 MF : C7H17NO6S MW : 243.278 Specification : White Powder Packing : 500g/bottle Product description : The full name of TAPS is trimethylolmethylaminopropane sulfonic acid, which is a white crystalline powder with CAS number 29915-38-6. Placing it in the air will smell a pungent odor. The pH range of TAPS is 7.7-9.1, and the maximum bufferable pH range is 7.4-9.4. It exhibits good hydrophilicity and is highly soluble in water. Its aqueous solution shows weak acidity, and can be adjusted to neutral or weakly alkaline by adding a small amount of NAOH. Due to its ability to stabilize pH values, TAPS is often used in biochemical experimental projects and clinical diagnostic fields. Other commonly used or frequently heard test kits include biochemical diagnostic kits, PCR diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits, and other test kits. In addition, trimethylolmethylaminopropane sulfonic acid is also used in cosmetics, coatings, and surfactants, and can also serve as an electrolyte for protein electrophoresis solutions. Another important function of TAPS is as a protective agent for oxygenated hemoglobin. We know that methemoglobin cannot bind with oxygen or carbon dioxide and has no ability to carry oxygen. Adding TAPS during the freezing and drying process of hemoglobin oxygen carriers can better protect protein drugs, oxygen, and hemoglobin, prevent hemoglobin oxidation to methemoglobin, and also inhibit protein denaturation during storage.
